When school’s out, and the sun finally shows up, most parents are just looking for easy ways to keep their kids busy and happy. If you’re local to St. Clair Shores, you won’t have to look far. This area has plenty going on, and a lot of it is free, low-key, or both.
LakePointe Orthodontics is proud to be part of the St. Clair Shores community. Dr. Frenchi and Dr. Jezdimir know how much their patients value time with their families, especially during the summer. Whether you’re already part of the practice or still exploring options, here are a few local events to add to your calendar this season.
Music on the Lake Summer Concert Series
Every Wednesday at 7 PM | June 4–August 13
Veterans Memorial Park – St. Clair Shores, MI
If you’re looking for something easy and free to do on a summer evening, this series is a solid go-to. The Music on the Lake concerts happen every Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park starting June 4 and run straight through mid-August. The lineup this year mixes returning favorites with new bands, and each night pulls a big crowd on land and on the water.
All concerts start at 7 PM. Admission and parking are free, and the park fills up fast. Suppose you have a boat, even better. Dozens of them anchor offshore during each show, giving the event a full-on summer festival vibe without the hassle of actually going to one.
Summer Discovery Cruises on Lake St. Clair
July 11–August 9 | Lake St. Clair Metropark
If your kids are curious or you’re just looking for a smarter way to spend time outside, these cruises hit the mark. Hosted by Michigan Sea Grant and Huron-Clinton Metroparks, the Summer Discovery Cruises are hands-on, on-the-water learning experiences designed for anyone age six and up.
Each trip explores a different theme. There will be shipwrecks and secret histories to birds, algae blooms, and lighthouse lore. Local experts come along for the ride, keeping things interesting without turning it into a full-on lecture. You’ll get real information while cruising across Lake St. Clair.
Cruises run from July 11 through August 9, leaving from Lake St. Clair Metropark. If your family likes nature, science, or Michigan history, this one’s worth adding to your summer calendar. It’s an easy way to get on the water and learn something new at the same time.
Downtown District Markets
Farmers Market at Blossom Heath Park
24800 Jefferson Ave, St. Clair Shores, MI
This market is a local favorite for a reason. Set right near the water at Blossom Heath Park, the Farmers Market runs select Sundays and Thursdays throughout the summer, and each one brings something a little different to the table.
Sunday mornings (July 27, August 24, September 28) are perfect for families. From 8 AM to 2 PM, you’ll find fresh produce, handmade goods, food trucks, and kid-friendly entertainment. It’s a relaxed way to spend a weekend morning, especially if you like letting your kids pick out snacks or flowers while you browse.
The Thursday markets (July 10, August 14) shift into more of an evening vibe. From 5 to 9 PM, you’ll still find vendors and farmers, but there’s also live music. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a low-key night out that still feels family-friendly.
Each week brings new vendors depending on what’s in season, so no two markets are the same. You don’t need to plan much. All you need to do is just show up, walk around, and enjoy.
Sustainable Crafting for Kids
Friday, July 25, at 2–3 PM
Hubbard Library – 12929 W. McNichols Rd., Detroit, MI 48235
If your child enjoys building, coloring, or creating, this one’s for them. As part of the Summer Reading Challenge, the Hubbard branch is offering a hands-on recycled art workshop. Kids will get to dig into bins of donated materials, think fabric scraps, old buttons, and unexpected treasures, and turn them into something completely new.
This workshop touches on sustainability in a way that’s easy for kids to understand. It’s art with a purpose, but it still feels like fun.
Kids under 10 will need a parent to stay with them, which is a good excuse to get in on the creative energy yourself. The whole thing runs about an hour, so it’s perfect for a quick afternoon outing.
Care That Stays Close to Home
Just like the local events that make St. Clair Shores a great place to raise a family, the right orthodontic care doesn’t have to be far or complicated. Dr. Frenchi and Dr. Jezdimir work with patients of all ages, offering steady, practical support from the first visit through the last.
If you’ve been juggling summer plans and wondering when to look into orthodontics, this could be a good time to get started. LakePointe Orthodontics is right here in town and makes it easy to explore your orthodontic options without adding more to your plate.
